The Latest: Trump talks 'new immigration system' in Ohio The Latest on President Donald Trump's victory lap in working-class Youngstown, Ohio (all times local): 9 p.m. President Donald Trump says he is working with a pair of Republican senators to "create a new immigration system for America." Trump is endorsing legislation introduced by Senators Tom Cotton and David Perdue that would put new limits on legal immigration. At a campaign-style rally Tuesday in Ohio, he said, "We want a merit-based system, one that protects our workers" and one that "protects our economy." Trump is also trumpeting his administration's tough approach to illegal immigration and illegal gangs. Trump says that "people are screaming from their windows, 'Thank you, thank you' " to the border patrol and his Homeland Security secretary. Nova Scotia Reopens Express Entry Stream, Closes Within Hours On the morning of July 5, the Canadian province of Nova Scotia reopened a popular category of its  Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry  immigration stream. Through this stream, eligible candidates in the Express Entry pool may apply for a provincial nomination through the  Nova Scotia Nominee Program  (NSNP), one of Canada’s  Provincial Nominee Programs  (PNPs). However, the intake period that began on July 5 closed within hours, showing the popularity of the this NSNP stream. As the most recent intake period indicates, the intake for this stream is capable of being reached within hours, as it has on previous occasions. However, this stream is set to reopen over the next few months and into next year., benefiting potential applicants in the pool who prepare in advance. London city presses for ‘digital skills visa’ The London city is pressing the government for a new ‘digital skills visa’ to improve the position of Britain as a financial technology hub, as other cities in Europe vie for the same. This idea is one among many proposals in a report prepared by PwC for TheCityUK lobby group. It emphasises on how final sector services sector of the UK can retain its competitive advantage even after Brexit. According to the report, younger people with crucial digital skills should be welcomed to the United Kingdom even if they have no job offers. Britain is said to have become a nursery of ‘financial technology’ innovation and investment. This position could be challenged, as the anti-immigration policy of the present dispensation could dissuade start-ups from recruiting the most talented workers from all over the world.
